    How Interact works

Hardware + software + services = light and insight

Think of an Interact system like a smart, responsive computer network that gives light. In general, an Interact connected lighting system consists of three main levels or layers: hardware installed in the illuminated space, software accessible via the cloud, and optional services from Signify.

    Hardware

An Interact system uses both lighting hardware and networking hardware. In illuminated spaces, connected LED luminaires from Philips or Color Kinetics deliver light, while sensors of various kinds collect data from the illuminated environment. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi beacons offer wireless connectivity for lighting control via mobile devices. Behind the scenes, lighting controllers and standard networking devices afford connectivity and integration.

    Software

The cloud-based Interact IoT platform serves the full range of Interact software applications for lighting management, monitoring, and control, and supports Interact’s award-winning cybersecurity program. Collected data is stored in the cloud, along with analysis and visualization tools for turning data into insight.
